ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The Annual General Meeting of the Wakefield Metropolitan District Branch of UNISON will be held on Wednesday 22nd February 2006 in the Kingswood Suite, Town Hall, Wakefield at 6.00 p.m.

The election of BRANCH OFFICERS will take place at the Annual General Meeting. Nomination papers for Branch Officers will be available from the Branch Office from December 12th 2005.

Nominations must be received in the Branch Office NO LATER THAN 5pm on Tuesday 24th January 2006. Nominations will be required for the following positions: Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, Education Co-ordinator, Lifelong Learner Co-ordinator, Equality Officer, Health and Safety Officer, Communications Officer, International Officer, Membership Officer, Young Members Officer and Welfare Officer. Branch Officer posts may be shared by two members to mutual agreement by both candidates and the Branch meeting.

The Branch Officer post will be elected by individual ballot of members at the Annual General Meeting and nominees must be members of the Branch and must be proposed and seconded by members of the Branch or Branch Committee. Nominees should submit a short manifesto in support of their nominations (not exceeding 200words) for circulation with the final agenda – no member shall hold more than one Branch Office at the same time.
Nominations are positively encouraged from under represented groups in accordance with UNISON’s policy of fair representation and proportionality.

AGENDA FOR 2006 AGM

Motions for consideration
at the Annual General Meeting should be proposed and seconded by members of the Branch or the Branch Committee – Motions must be received in the Branch Office NO LATER THAN 5.00 p.m. on Tuesday 6 February 2006. Motions received after this date shall be discussed at the Annual General Meeting only if they are considered to be an emergency by the meeting and in accordance with UNISON rules and guidelines.
Please note admission will be by membership card or pay slip showing UNISON deductions.
Copies of the Annual Report will be obtainable from the Branch Office after Monday, 13 February 2006.
The venue is accessible and crèche facilities will be provided – please let the Branch Office know the names and ages of children by Friday 3 February 2006 (tel 01924 305360)

Agenda

  1. To Receive the Statement of Accounts and Balance Sheet.
  2. To Receive the Annual Report.
  3. To elected/confirm the Branch Officers
  4. To Elect Branch Auditors (who must be members of the Branch and cannot be members of the Branch Committee).
  5. To report on Pay Claims.
  6. To consider competent motions for debate.
  7. Any other business as determined by the Branch Committee.
